Unique Device Identifier (UDI) — A standardized numeric or alphanumeric code assigned to a medical device (including diagnostic test kits) that allows it to be identified and traced throughout its distribution and use. In the U.S., UDI labels are required by the FDA for medical devices and must appear on the device’s label and packaging.
